The Author of My Life ~ A Christian Poem

There’s a story God has written, long before the sunbeams shone,

Before the world began to turn, O Lord, my soul you’ve known.

And you looked ahead to every day, every moment, sweet or sad,

You knew the thoughts within my heart, and every lesson you would add.

My story, O how perfect,

Though sometimes the day looks grim,

When I wonder what the future holds,

I put my trust in Him.

He’s an author always perfect, my story’s end is glad,

For no matter what befalls me here, there’s heavenly joy to be had.

Upon life’s path there are twists and turns, but I know he’ll lead me on,

And when I see that I am weak, his love will make me strong.

My story, O how perfect,

Though shadows overcast,

While I am blind, He sees the future

Just as clearly as the past.

I’ll praise through all life’s chapters, His perfect love and grace,

Praise Him all the days I live, Till at last I see His face.

Then forever more I’ll worship, The author of my life,

The one who wrote my story, brought me through each pain and strife.

My story O how perfect,

I need not fear or doubt,

As long as I still follow Him,

I’ll stay on the right route.

My story is never ending, but someday all pain will cease,

When at last from this mortal prison, my soul will be released.

I’ll fly away to heaven to dwell in peace with Christ,

My gentle God and Savior, the Author of my Life.
